Week 3 NFC Power Rankings

Here’s this week’s NFC Power Rankings. There was a lot of movement in the middle of the pack, but the top and bottom stayed put. You can view them on the Power Rankings page here.

Rank (+/-) Team Team (Rec) Comment
1. (+0) Packers (3-0) The Pack went into Chicago and beat the Bears by 10.
They were #1 before that, they’re #1 after that.
2. (+0) Saints (2-1) Third tough game in a row for the Saints, this time
defeating the Texans 40-33. There’s some concerns about the defense, though.
3. (+2) Lions (3-0) Big comeback win in Minnesota. These Lions are pretty darn good.
4. (-1) Falcons (1-2) How can the Falcons look so good one week, but look so average the next?
5. (-1) Eagles (1-2) Verrrrry ugly game against the Giants. Their talent is keeping them from dropping any further.
6. (+3) Giants (2-1) The Giants went into Philadelphia and stuck it to the Eagles, but the Eagles didn’t play nearly at the level they are capable of, and the G-Men still have injury concerns.
7. (+3) Bucs (2-1) Big win against the division rival Falcons.
8. (+3) Cowboys (2-1) They beat the Redskins–by kicking six field goals. Not a very impressive game, although Tony Romo deserves a TON of credit for going out there with his rib injury.
9. (-3) Bears (1-2) The Bears couldn’t handle the Pack. I don’t think anyone expected them to, either.
10 (-3) Redskins (2-1)  Ah, the Redskins came back to earth. The real Rex Grossman finally stood up, turning the ball over twice, including on the ‘Skins final drive that sealed the loss.
11. (-3) Cardinals (1-2) The Cardinals lost to the worst team in the NFC. Had to be a fluke, right?
12. (+0) Panthers (1-2) Cam Newton came back down to earth, but got the win in rainy Jacksonville. I have a hard time putting them ahead of Arizona or Washington, so they are staying put at 12.
13. (+0) 49ers (2-1) They beat the Bengals 13-8. They didn’t look all that good, just like they did in their Week 1 win. Let’s see how they play in Philadelphia next week.
14. (+0) Rams (0-3) No one thought they could beat the Ravens.
15. (+0) Vikings (0-3) Another game, another double-digit lead given up for the Vikings. Things would be much different had they kept those leads.
16. (+0) Seahawks (1-2) Yes, the beat the Cardinals, but that doesn’t change where they stand.
